Cape Maclear

The "Lake of Stars" — golden sand and colourful fish in a protected park

Visited by Bon Voyage Club

This is where David Livingstone called Lake Malawi the "Lake of Stars". The beach strip is where Chembe Village meets the lake: some sections are busy fishing areas, others are where local children love to play.

Cape Maclear is part of Lake Malawi National Park, a protected area where it is easy to see many species of cichlid fish.
